I saw them first on the street
I followed them everywhere
And then I followed them right here.
I sat quite still under the pier
Watching and waiting
to hear what I could hear.
The leprechauns danced
and sang a song.
They drank themselves a mug of cheer.
Laughing and dancing I wondered long
Why Port Harbor would be their choice?
Wouldn't Ireland be their Land?
Behind a pole I did stand
Watching in wonder most of the day
When all of a sudden I heard them say,
"Come here boy, come have some fun."
"Quit hiding away from this lovely sun."
"In Ireland now, it'd be cold and wet."
"But here now boy, it's warm and dry
Come and watch the lovely sun set."
I thought about catching one
To get myself that pot of gold
But in the end, truth be told
They were too much fun.
As the day turned to dusk
To home I ran
Knowing that I could never tell
Where I'd been or with whom,
Leprechauns on the beach
basking in the sun.
I thought about my day with them
while gazing at the moon.
Wondering if I'd missed my chance
For riches great
and if I'd be seeing them soon.
