Summer at Port Harbor
By Diane D. Norgard

The lazy days of summer heat
Tourists come to shop
For the beautiful antiques.
The beach filled with children
Running in the sun
Sunbathers drinking in the fun.
People with their poles
Hanging off the pier
School is out, the sun is hot
Summer time is here.
The latest summer movie
Brings relief from the heat.
Barbeques and parties
Happen in the street.
Teenagers hanging out
Flirting with each other
Claiming they are old enough
To be places without
Their parent’s hover.
Notice of a local play
And piano recital
Tacked upon the wall
Calling to the interested and the idle.
Ice against glass clinks
Amongst the music and the laughter.
Lazy summer days
In the quaint Southern town
Live on in PortHarbor.
